Raimondo di Sangro, the black prince accused of betraying Freemasonry
Raimondo di Sangro, alchemist prince and Grand Master of Neapolitan Freemasonry, transformed the Sansevero Chapel in Naples into an initiatory temple, filled with symbols and extraordinary works such as the famous "Veiled Christ" by Giuseppe Sanmartino and the unsettling "Anatomical Machines". His figure, shrouded in dark legends, was marked by a damning accusation: that of betraying his Masonic brothers by handing their names to the royal power to save himself, a story fuelled also by his son's denunciation. A controversial genius, patron and traitor, scientist and sorcerer, who wove art, science and symbolism into a legacy still shrouded in mystery.
